September-30th Alcatraz Angel-Island SF-LA Game
71 photosGot up early in the morning and did the Alcatraz - Angel Island tour. This was a 5 1/2 hour tour that went past Alcatraz on the way to Angel Island. There was a tram tour of the island (very cool). Then we headed to Alcatraz for a audio tour. The complete tour took about 5 1/2 hours. Once we got back to the hotel, we got ready to head out to the San Francisco Giants - Los Angeles Dodgers game at AT&T park. What a neat stadium. Got lucky to see a beautiful sunset. Giants won 5-0

October-1st - Bike the Golden Gate Bridge
44 photosGot up early and rented a couple of bikes and bicycle across the Golden Gate bridge. What a neat thing to do. We made it! We spent about 5 hours riding. This includes riding to 1245 Van Ness St which has a place that my dad went to about 5 years ago. He loved the special seasoning that they had. So we did this. We were treated to a fly-over by a group of about 8 jets. We went out and took a F-car to the District center. BIG buildings and was super busy even at 9 at night. What a great 3rd day of our vacation!

Then we drove straight to the Monterey Aquarium - we heard great things about the aquarium and this was Awesome! Hewlett Packards owner built this for his daughter (what I heard), and it's incredible. This is located on Cannery Row which was known for canning sardines back in the 30's. Awesome place. We stay about 5 miles way from it. Our hotel is a block away from the beach

October 4th - Big Sur
177 photosOctober-4th - Big Sur Got up early and headed to Big Sur - I was really looking forward to this portion of the trip. This certainly did not disappoint. I'm sure between Jody and I, we took well over 300 photos. This was definitely an "ooh and ahh" day. We started in Monterey and went down to Big Sur marker 23 which took us to a place that I had on our itinerary for a nice Pacific Ocean view for lunch. The burger and Reuben did not disappoint. As a BIG added bonus we timed it perfectly to visit the historic Point Sur Lighthouse. This was an unplanned stop that we PERFECTLY timed it to get included in the guided tour. Only 8 cars (approx 20 people) got to get this guided tour. That was it!!! 10 minutes later and we wouldn't have gotten this tour. We met some nice people on the tour. Once we ate at the Pacific Edge restaurant, we headed back to Carmel by the Sea and checked in to our hotel for tonight and tomorrow - The Tickle Pink Inn - another fantastic day!!!!

October-5th - Big Sur - Pfeiffer Beach - Anniversary Dinner
76 photosOctober-5th - Big Sur - Pfeiffer Beach - Anniversary Dinner Our 30th anniversary
Got up early and headed back to Big Sur. Today's 'event' was Pfeiffer Beach. This is truely a hidden Gem. If you don't know where it is, you will find it. There is no sign, no direction, no nothing. All you see is a very old single lane road that says no RV's or Trailers. You have to drive 2 miles. Then walk about a 1/2 a mile. There you will find the "keyhole" rock. Famous for having pics taken with the sun's rays shining through it. The beach is also known for the purple tinted sand.
Then we got back to the hotel.
